To Runners, Lifters, and Everyone Striving to Become the Best Version of Themselves:
Thank you for joining me and continuing to carry the torch alongside Runners Origin as we move forward. Over the past semester, I, Gabriel Singh, took a brief hiatus to embrace the life of a student-athlete while navigating the challenges of academics, athletics, and life’s many responsibilities. Now, with winter break upon us and winter workouts in full swing, I find myself better able to balance these pursuits, and I'm thrilled to reconnect with you all.
To those who have stayed, welcome back. To the newcomers, welcome to a space where we push past barriers, challenge our limits, and grow stronger together.
Let me start with a question: Where are you right now in your journey, and where do you want to be?
For me, as a track and field athlete, a pre-physician student, and a soon-to-be husband, my life may look picture-perfect to some. People might think, "Wow, he’s got it all together—a college athlete with professional potential, a meaningful career, and a life partner waiting to say ‘I do.’"
But behind the scenes, I face my share of struggles. Stress is a constant companion, and I often battle with comparing myself to others—academically, athletically, and professionally. It’s easy to get caught up in what others are achieving: applying to dream schools, hitting record times, landing dream jobs straight out of college. Sometimes, I feel like I’m not moving fast enough—watching others hit milestones is super hard. But I remind myself that comparison steals joy. God has a unique plan for each of us, and our job is to focus on doing the best with what we have today
For those of you who are spiritual or religious, like me, I remind myself of this truth: God has already written my story. I can’t control the future, nor can I change the past. What I can control is the present—what I choose to do today to prepare for what He has planned for me tomorrow.
Here’s my challenge to you: pause for a moment, take a deep breath, and appreciate how far you’ve come. Write down two things:
- What’s currently holding you back from reaching your goals?
- The goals you want to achieve.
Be honest with yourself. Once you’ve written them down, make it real take and a picture, set it as your lock screen, or place it somewhere visible to remind you of your purpose every day.
Did you know that, according to the the BBC, the average person spends about 4.8 hours per day on their phone? Imagine what you could accomplish if even half of that time was redirected toward your goals. Your phone might be one of the barriers standing between you and your dreams.
Let’s Talk Dreams and Goals
For me, this isn’t just about running or lifting weights—it’s about building something meaningful that extends far beyond myself. One of my biggest dreams is to grow Runners Origin into a thriving business: a space that includes a gym, a running club, and a community where people come together to challenge themselves, support one another, and break through life’s barriers.
But my dreams don’t stop there. As a Christian, my faith is the foundation of everything I do. I strive to provide for my soon-to-be wife in all the ways God calls me to, nurturing a marriage that reflects His love. I aim to honor my parents by ensuring they’re cared for as they grow older. And I want to be a beacon for others—especially those who don’t have much—by giving back and helping where I can.
One of my ultimate goals is to represent Team Philippines in the 400m hurdles, showcasing the talent and resilience that comes from dedication and faith.
Right now, it may feel like I’m juggling a lot: building my business, pursuing athletics, preparing for marriage, and tackling academics. But every rep in the gym, every lap around the track, and every late-night study session is a step toward these goals.
We’re all on unique journeys, and the road can often feel overwhelming. But remember this: every small step forward, no matter how insignificant it may seem, brings you closer to your goals.
For me, every sprint I run, every decision I make for Runners Origin, and every moment I spend with my loved ones is a choice to honor God’s plan and push beyond my barriers. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
I want to leave you with this: no matter where you are in your journey, you are capable of so much more than you think. Stay faithful, stay focused, and keep showing up for yourself and the people who matter.
Together, as a community, we can break the barriers in front of us—whether they’re physical, mental, or spiritual. Let’s keep striving, keep growing, and keep inspiring.
Now it’s your turn: What’s the next step you can take today to move closer to the person you want to become?
I can’t wait to see how we’ll grow together. Thank you for being part of this journey, and let’s continue to carry the torch forward.
Stay strong, stay motivated, and let’s keep running toward our best selves.
Be the person the people around you aren't
